Club Changing
To our valued club family members
It is with the greatest pleasure that I announce the club will be changing affiliations and have contractually agreed to become A.C. Milan of Boston; a Super Club affiliate of A.C. Milan. The change will be effective during our tryouts this year in June. All teams currently in season will continue to play with their current uniform and name.
Our new affiliation with A.C. Milan will change nothing in the way the club is staffed or administered now. Sid Mazzola will continue to be the Director of Coaching, Coach Tony Martone will continue to be our Senior age group college director, and I will continue to be President. Our current coaching staff will continue to be in place and we hope with our new program of coaching education from A.C. Milan to enrich our staff even further.
A.C. Milan, (Associazione Calcio Milan), was formed in 1899 in Milan, Italy. They are arguably one of the most popular, successful, and recognizable international clubs in the world. As a Super Club affiliate, we will be able to offer our members superior training based on the A.C. Milan Junior Academy methodology. We will also have A.C. Milan youth directors at our tryouts and camps, training players. A.C. Milan also sponsors tournaments in the United States, (the most notable the Continental Cup), in which many of our teams will participate. Our current Boys U15 team coached by Sid Mazzola, will be participating in the Continental Cup this summer. These tournaments are designed by A.C. Milan as platforms to identify players that are potentials for their professional programs in Italy. Players from our club will be able to be identified and if selected, able to go to Milan, Italy and spend time under direct supervision of the AC Milan staff for potential recruitment to the professional ranks.
Most importantly, we will have access to A.C. Milan training methodologies for younger players. The A.C. Milan junior academies are world-‐renowned and have affiliations around the globe. There are academies in Australia, Colombia, Nigeria, Spain, and in the USA, Florida and California, to name a few. A.C. Milan of Boston is the first Super Club for A.C. Milan in the USA.
We will be holding a fun filled soccer event called 'Milan Park" in Waltham on Saturday, May 22, 2010. It is being sponsored by "Wegotsoccer" and "Adidas". We hope to see all of you there! Attendance is free of charge. While the fun filled "Milan Park" is going on instructor Mirco Gubellini, from AC Milan will hold 2 free "Talent Clinics" at 10AM and 2PM. for all age groups. The first 200 players attending will receive an AC Milan Boston T-Shirt.
Please don't hesitate to contact your coach or club directors with any questions about this exciting new affiliation or visit our new web www.acmilanboston.com
